The LaserON Research Group is pleased to announce the publication of Laser Based Manufacturing, a new book published by CRC Press (Taylor & Francis) as part of the Advanced Materials Processing and Manufacturing series.

The book has been edited by the LaserON Research Group at the University of Vigo, with Juan Pou, Fernando Lusquiños, Mohamed Boutinguiza, Félix Quintero, Antonio Riveiro, Rafael Comesaña, and Jesús del Val serving as editors. It brings together contributions from LaserON researchers and internationally recognized experts in laser materials processing.

This publication reflects the extensive scientific experience accumulated by our research group over several decades, as well as its long-standing collaboration with leading international research institutions. The book includes contributions from researchers affiliated with Fraunhofer IWS (Germany), Laser Zentrum Hannover (Germany), the University of Sheffield (UK), Ruhr University Bochum (Germany), KU Leuven (Belgium), and the University of Barcelona (Spain), among others.

Through 15 chapters, the book provides a comprehensive overview of laser-based manufacturing technologies, covering both fundamental principles and advanced industrial applications. Topics include laser–material interactions, laser cutting, welding, cladding, additive manufacturing, and marking, as well as more specialized processes such as two-photon polymerization, laser-induced forward transfer, laser spinning, and nanoparticle synthesis.

The book combines established industrial technologies with recent scientific developments, addressing applications from conventional manufacturing to micro- and nanoscale materials processing. Particular attention is also given to process modelling, technological innovation, and sustainability.

Intended for researchers, engineers, and graduate students, Laser Based Manufacturing provides a reference for understanding the principles, current capabilities, and future opportunities of laser technologies in advanced manufacturing.
